Caiss-Stat was developed at CAISS. CAISS is the Center for Algorithms and Interactive Scientific Software at The City College of New York/CUNY, a research center which focuses on the applications of pure mathematics to computere science. It was founded in 2001 by Distinguished Professor Gilbert Baumslag, in large part to carry forward and build upon the gains realized by the unique software package called Magnus, which was driven by a novel graphical interface making it possible to easily carry out research and experiments in infinite group theory. Caiss-Stat is the first common application of this interface, and was invented by Prof. Baumslag and three co-inventors working at CAISS, including Prof. Ben Fine of Fairfield University, who headed up the writing of the project. Development continuity was provided by Dr. Markus Stricker, a Swiss mathematician and member of CAISS. The actual coding was done by Dr. Yegor Bryukhov and Stefan Kuntz.
